Andrea Moore Photography, L.L.C.
Mission:
Andrea Moore Photography aims to deliver extraordinary photography to ordinary people. I specialize in a photojournalistic approach to portraiture, capturing candid, living, evocative images of individuals and families. As a fierce advocate of affordable art for all, I work hard to keep my pricing affordable and my approach personal and relevant.
History of Business:
As an undergraduate at Boston University’s theatre conservatory, I helped my fellow actors by taking portraits of them that they could use as professional headshots at auditions. Eventually it occurred to me that I was providing a service that was potentially lucrative, and I began charging underclassmen and their referrals nominal fees for my time and materials. As my skill and portfolio developed, so too did my side business in photography.
In 2005 I decided to take the plunge and quit my day job; since then, I have had the pleasure to enjoy photography as my full-time profession. In the fall of 2005 I began advertising my wedding portraiture services on TheKnot.com, and nearly overnight the brunt of the shoots I was booking swung from headshots to weddings. I still make annual trips to both New York and Los Angeles to work with actors, and my theatre training and background continues to influence the style of my work.
What you offer:
I offer individuals and families an opportunity to experience a portrait session that doesn’t require them to sit with their hands folded and legs crossed. I want to laugh with my clients – to talk with them, joke with them, listen to them, and share with them – all in an effort to really see them. I offer photography that is a fixed image of a fluid state, and the challenge I set for myself during every session is to provide each subject with a portrait that they love; I want it to reveal their favorite qualities, evoking a sense of play and promise.
Future Goals/Direction of the Business:
I have reduced the number of weddings I am accepting every year in an effort to offer my clients a more comprehensive, high-end service. I am also burrowing down into my artistic core, drawing out more thoughtful, specific material and allowing more of my world-view to influence my work. In the past year I have begun showing and selling more of my art and travel photography, and I am eager to build upon that tradition by creating more relationships with galleries and collaborating with other artists.
